Discover the Other Side of the Tracks in Flemington is a project of the Heritage Committee of the Flemington Association.
We want to stimulate local and broader interest in the fascinating history of Flemington, Victoria by creating and maintaining an interesting, interactive history resource.
But we also want you to contribute stories, images and artefacts of Flemington past and present. Explore our website, give us your feedback, and get involved in investigating and celebrating Flemington’s heritage.
Our 8-page heritage booklet, Discover the Other Side of the Tracks in Flemington promotes walks around Flemington, including Newmarket and Travancore, and adjacent parts of Kensington. You can download this – and soon other suggested tours – from this website, or email email@example.com for a hard copy.
Our website was supported by a 2011 grant from the Victorian Government through its Local History Grants Program. The guide was designed by local graphic designer Tess McCabe and sponsored by Moonee Valley City Council via a community arts grant. The website was designed by Business Systems Online, based in Flemington.
Members of the Flemington Association’s heritage committee intend to add more information to the website, including resources for local schools on history, architecture and people from our community. This is all to be used for future generations and hopefully to be built upon and maintained by the community.
